Even with it being a bit of a mudfest, I fucking love this trail. Thru hiking the LT in ‘22 is my driving force for hiking the AT. I can’t believe I’m back. I’m sure a tear would have been shed if I wasn’t at the border crossing with a woman who I just met. She offered to take my picture, so not a terrible consolation. Though I was looking forward to a good cry.. Before I crossed the border I ate shit on a slick rock, scraped my leg and snapped my trekking pole. The traction on these shoes are laughable.. except when you eat shit and break your gear.. I wasn’t laughing.

There was imminent weather forecasted for the afternoon. Once I crossed the shelter at the 18 mile mark, Goddard Shelter wasn’t for another 8 miles. Take one step past the first, then I was fully committed to hoofing it through the Glastonbury Wilderness to beat the rain. Like a story book ending, it started pouring the second I stepped foot in the shelter.
