The Pemi effort really exposed that I hardly ever train hiking, probably less than an hour a week on average. I generally try to run anything that looks runnable, and I don't really have a gauge on what that is other than my brain saying "yeah this shit looks runnable".

But then my uphill running, while it is my comfort, gets super hard to grind through above 15% on tired legs. So then I'm stuck hiking (also the whites have so many brutal climbs where there is no other option than hiking). Problem is it's super hard to train these things on most trails.
- Lack of consistent grades and objective data showing improvement on said grades.
- Inconsistent trail conditions
- I don't always have access to big climbs. 

Enter the uphill treadmill (old) and stairclimber (new). No idea if it’s sustainable for me but could be sick if I get better.
