Little known park that was the very sight of the first battle between a free state and slave state. Pretty cool to learn about the history of the area on the very sight that the history happened. 
This little area is also home to the best preserved wagon “swales” on the entire historic path of the old Santa Fe Trail. Very cool to clearly see such features with the evening light casting shadows along them. Still funny how this 1840s+ history is so ancient here (for documented/written history) but yet across the big pool I was riding along and over history over 2,000 years older than this. Doesn’t make one better than the other but really puts into perspective how young our history is.
Absolutely beautiful evening for a little digestive ride. Though I despise my 25-35 minute commute, it sure is nice to ride right into the country.
