Morning Run

Did well, but fell off pretty hard at the end. I attribute it to lack of. Prep via long runs. Unlike before, I didn’t feel like I made up much time on the uphills. Need to train more on steep stuff for future races. 

Nutrition:
Hour and a half before: 1 boiled egg
Right before: 3 shot blocks
Mile 5: Drank 20 carb juice pack.
Mile 8: 1 shot block
Mile 10: 1 shot block
Mile 12: 1 shot block
Nutrition went pretty well! I felt pretty solid throughout. U think I should have started eating at mile 4.5 and 7 instead of 5 and 8. It felt a bit too long between mile 5 and 8 for eating. The liquid pack was nice but made my stomach feel a bit upset. I want to look into similar products that might be better.

Sugars were fine: I had no CGM and was flying blind. I tested at mile 5(was 276). I gave 1.2 units and followed my eating plan showed above. I tested right after the race and was 126. 

Obstacles: didn’t miss any!! Getting the spear throw ended up being pretty crucial for keeping my lead. I came close to failing the rope climb at the end….I’ve definitely lost some upper body endurance since stopping climbing.

Results: 1st out of 35ish in age group(25-29). 8min in front of second place of age group. 6th overall of age group participants. Pretty happy/surprised by the results! Need to look to see how I would’ve done in elite category.
Held front of 2nd pace group for 5 miles. When I stopped to test, a skinny bearded shirtless guy past me. Though I had him on the obstacles, he was just frankly a faster runner. I ended up taking second in the pace group.
