After work RL out n back

This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I think. I’ve never biked over 50 miles (and certainly never up a heinous powerline “road”) and the majority of the distance for the race was covered by bike 🚲 with only a 2.5hr canoe 🛶 , and several hours of trekking. We found a majority of checkpoints, we didn’t shy away from those we were warned would be difficult to locate, involve bushwhacking or a scramble. A lot of the single track MTB we did in the dark, which was new for me. I am exhausted from paddling, pedaling, and tromping across the high desert; I am also exhausted from reading maps again and again, studying them for every minut detail, locating us on them in the dark, searching hill and yon for flags and being perpetually aware of my precise location.
