Reached sub peak Dome du Gouter (4,304m/14121ft) and was feeling great but turned around primarily due to two factors.   Marginal snow conditions with a significant avalanche event in the area and a group member that had not acclimatized and with seemingly limited conditioning prep who became (in my opinion) a safety risk.  Thought I was going to get another attempt early Wednesday morning while the unfit group member stayed at the Gouter hut but guide was (rightly) concerned about descent from the hut.  I was more frustrated and concerned with the slow pace, being roped up to a clearly fatigued team member, and some unclear and changing expectations from the guide than disappointed with not reaching the summit as the snow conditions did concern me especially having been involved in a small avalanche on Jungfrau just over a week ago.  There were some successful groups but that does not necessarily mean it was safe.  I feel good about coming back alive and well and having experienced a spectacular mountain.
