This morning I awoke at the Cranberry 50 trailhead. light rain falling on the leaf covered trail outside of my car door. Back to back hard efforts in the rain seemed.. well… shitty. So I went for a walk in the woods instead 

Eagle Eyrie & Whiteface (soft) attempt:
My hopes were to ascend Whiteface via the Landing trail. It’s one that gains 2700’ in the final 2.2 miles. It wasn’t long into the short lived climb that I was getting rained on with the more elevation I gained. Above treeline is a sea of scrambling and not one I wanted to do in the rain. Retreating down trail, I pitstopped at Eagle Eyrie, which better tests the navigational skills. Perhaps tomorrow is my leaf covered, ankle twisting romp of the Cranberry bog. 

Oh, I also heard loons doing their thing on Connery Pond for the first time since I was in the Hundred Mile Wilderness on the AT. Bring me tf back
